Vecinos (English: Neighbors) is a Mexican TV series adapted in 2005 by actor Eugenio Derbez from Spanish TV series Aquí no hay quien viva.
The series portrays the life of everyday people in Mexican barrios, where anything can be found — the jealous housewife, the spinster, the strange family, etc. Each episode features the interactions between these peculiar neighbors, where they deal with problems both real and imagined, such as ghosts, treasures, ripoffs, fights, etc.

The History
In 2005, after Eugenio Derbez made a trip to Spain, he saw a TV series named Aquí no hay quien viva, which features the same kind of problems that people lives in the barrios. He thought it'd be great idea to do a remake in Mexico, and he did his purpose with this show named Vecinos.
Third Season
The third season premiered on January 20th on Televisa, presenting the conclusion of the cliffhanger of the second season aired on September 12th, 2007.
Characters
The Doorkeeper
Germán Martínez
Doorkeeper of the building. He's lazy but in front of the neighbors, he tries to pretend the contrary.[2][3]
German is portrayed by Eduardo España.
The Balboas
Don Roque Balboa
An elderly retired soldier. His neurotic character makes him intolerant and make him live in eternal disagreement with his neighbors. He also has a teddy bear named Rambo. [4][5]
Don Roque is portrayed by Polo Ortín.
Vanessa Balboa
She is a hardcore lover of pets and is a veterinarian. She lives with her uncle, old member of the Army, Don Roque Balboa.[6]
Vanessa is portrayed by Roxana Castellanos.
The Olvera
Silvia Olvera
The desperate woman, who is dealing with internal conflicts of not finding a soul mate. She teaches ethics in high school and is going through a mid-thirties crisis.[7][8][9]
Silvia is portrayed by Mayrín Villanueva.
The Rivers/Rios
Frankie Rivers (Rios)
An actor whose attempts in the show business have failed. Frankie lives in the past, reinventing every moment that distant time when he appeared in the film of "La Toalla de Mojado".[10][11]
Frankie is portrayed by César Bono
Lorena Rivers (Rios)
Frankie's wife. A housewife, gossiper and invidious person. Comes from a financially-strong family. His dad owns a winery.[12][13]
Lorena is portrayed by Ana Bertha Espín
Benito Rivers (Rios)
He is the son of Frankie and Lorena. He is a naughty, innocent boy who likes to study and wants to be a doctor. He is focused and conscionable. He likes fighting games and it is continually meeting with Germán and Pedro to play or watch them on television. He feels embarrassed every time his mother forces him to wear costumes.[14][15]

The Lopez
Arturo López
A mature man who tries to get ahead and earn the respect of his family and their neighbors, but it is no secret that he is dominated by his wife (Magdalena).[16][17]

Magdalena Pérez Lopez
She is the wife of Arturo. A presumptuous and obsessed-with-what-others-may-think-of-her kind of woman. Appears to have what she doesn't and to be what she's not. She hates living in the building. She puts everyone in the category of a "naco." She thinks she deserves to live somewhere else more appropriate to her class, although she did not even finish middle school.[18][19]
Magdalena is portrayed by Macaria
Alejandra López
She is the daughter of Arturo and Magdalena López. She is 16 years old, rebellious, lazy, and messy. She always talks back to her parents every time she get lectured. When she does, Magdalena blames Arturo for not fronting his children. She does not support her brother, who she finds a decerebrated "Fresa" and lives in constant friction with him. For her, the best is the hard rock and grunge.[20][21]
Alejandra is portrayed by Danny Perea
Marco López
Also son of Arturo and Magdalena and elder brother of Alejandra. At seventeen years old, he is barely in his junior year in High School. Thanks to his laziness he had to repeat several school cycles. His mother has tried to give him everything, but she's made a parasitism out of him. He is ashamed of his parents and their social status.[22]

The Friends
Luis San Román
Neurotic and apprehensive. Like Pedro, he's a seller of all kinds of goods in a trading company. Unlike his friend, everything goes wrong for Luis. He is looking for a woman in his life, only that women that he likes always end up feeling attracted to Pedro.[23][24]
Luis is portrayed by Darío Ripoll
Pedro Medina
The careless and irresponsible type of guy but good-natured that takes life lightly. Despite not being very smart, his charm and luck always make him succeed. He takes advantage of the situations but not ill-intentioned. Often wins business and sales to Luis. He likes soccer and can spend the day lying on his couch watching TV and eating junk food.[25][26]
