List of islands of the Republic of China

This is a list of islands of the Republic of China (Taiwan) administration. The list is classified into various island groups below. The largest island of the list is Taiwan (Formosa), which currently forms a substantial majority of the Republic of China. In addition, other islands which are actively claimed the sovereignty by the ROC but not administered such as Senkaku Islands (Diaoyutai) and most of South China Sea Islands are excluded from the list.

Kinmen

Matsu Islands

• Matsu Islands (馬祖列島) (Lienchiang County, Fukien Province)
  • Peikan (Beigan; 北竿)
    • Kaoteng (Gaodeng; 高登)
  • Nankan (Nangan; 南竿)
  • Tungyin (Dongyin; 東引) (Lienchiang County, Fukien Province)
    • Hsiyin (Siyin; 西引)
    • Liang Island (亮島)
  • Jyuguang (Chukuang; 莒光) (Lienchiang County, Fukien Province)
    • Tungchu (東莒)
    • Hsichu (西莒)

South China Sea Islands

• South China Sea Islands (南海諸島) (Kaohsiung Municipality; only those listed below are administered by the ROC)
  • Pratas Islands (Tungsha, Dong-sha; 東沙群島)
  • Spratly Islands (Nansha, Nan-sha; 南沙群島; disputed with several Southeast Asian countries)
    • Taiping (Itu Aba; 太平島)
    • Chung-Chou (中洲礁)

The ROC keeps claims to all the South China Sea Islands,^[1] but only Pratas and part of Spartly islands are under its administration. Now the governing area is governed by Cijin District, Kaohsiung.

Taiwan and surrounding Islands

• Taiwan Island (臺灣島) (across 15 out of 16 counties and all 5 county-level cities in Taiwan Province, and Taipei Municipality and Kaohsiung Municipality which are not part of Taiwan Province)
  • Cijin (旗津島; an artificial island, formerly a longshore bar connected to the island of Taiwan) (Kaohsiung Municipality)
  • Green Island (Lyutao, Lutao; 綠島) (Taitung County, Taiwan Province)
  • Gueishan Island (Turtle Mount; 龜山島) (Yilan County, Taiwan Province)
  • Hsiao Liuchiu (Lamay Islet; 琉球嶼) (Pingtung County, Taiwan Province)
  • Keelung Islet (基隆嶼) (Keelung City, Taiwan Province)
  • Lalu (lake island within the Sun Moon Lake) (拉魯島) (Nantou County)
  • Orchid Island (Lanyu, Ponso no Tao; 蘭嶼) (Taitung County, Taiwan Province)
  • The Three Northern Islands (北方三島) (Keelung City, Taiwan Province)
    • Huaping Islet (花瓶嶼)
    • Mianhua Islet (棉花嶼)
    • Pengjia Islet (彭佳嶼)
